Licensing of Aerodromes
The rules pertaining to classification, licensing, usage and related fee/ tariff for the Aerodromes in India are given in Part XI of the Aircraft Rules, 1937. 

Licensing of Aerodrome

Aerodromes are required to be licensed in accordance with Rule 78 of the Aircraft Rules, 1937. The Aerodromes may be granted licence in one of the following categories, namely:-

  • For public use;
  • For private use, that is to say, for use by the licensee and by individuals specifically authorised by the licensee.

DGCA grants licence to all aerodromes as per requirements laid down in CAR Section 4 Series 'F' Part I

CAR Section 4 Series 'B' Part I lays down the requirements for  Aerodrome Design and Operations, and

CAR Section 4 Series 'B' Part III lays down the requirements for Heliports.

CAR Section 4 Series 'B' Part IV - Exemption procedure for non-compliance at aerodromes.

Aerodrome Advisory Circular 1 of 2006 provides "Guidelines for preparation & maintenance of Aerodrome Manual."
