PROCEDURE FOR UPGRADATION/RENEWAL OF COMMEICAL PILOT’S LICENCES.
The skill tests for renewal of expired licences of pilots and for upgradation of licences from Commercial Pilot’s Licence to Senior Commercial Pilot’s Licence/Airline Transport Pilot’s Licence and Senior Commercial Pilot’s Licence to Airline Transport Pilot’s Licence, hitherto, required to be carried out in actual flight, may be carried out on "Full Flight Simulators" with complete visual, and approved by the DGCA.
The complete test profile including the take off and landings, normal maneuvers, and those relating to abnormal and emergency situations shall be carried out extensively on the approved "Full Flight Simulators", covering the entire skill test envelope. After satisfactory completion of the skill test on the Simulator, the licences shall be submitted to the Office of the DGCA for effecting renewal, thereof endorsement, as the case may be, alongwith complete training dossier of the concerned pilot and the relevant skill test reports.
After their licences have been renewed or appropriately endorsed, as the case may be, such pilots shall be detailed for the route checks and these route checks shall be carried out by the Examiners only.
The proficiency in landing and take off techniques shall be re-assessed in actual flight during the route checks, commencing with the first flight after the checks on Simulators. Proficiency in aircraft handling, visual and instrument approaches and external checks etc. shall also be assessed during the aforesaid route checks by the approved examiners only.
A minimum of 3 satisfactory take-off and landings each by day and night, (as required for the test profiles for upgradation of licences i.e. Commercial Pilot’s Licence to Senior Commercial Pilot’s Licence/Airline Transport Pilot’s Licence, and renewal of licences) or such higher number, as may be considered necessary by the Examiners to ensure consistent performance of the pilots under check, shall be accomplished during the route checks.

The operator shall ensure that the route check reports, complete in all respects, are submitted so as to reach the Office of the DGCA within ten days of the date of the last route check.
