AIR SAFETY CIRCULAR NO. 7 OF 1994

(File No.AV.15011/2/93-AS)

Subject:- Cabin crew and passengers briefing during emergencies

Investigation into a recent forced landing accident to an airline aircraft, revealed that the flight crew did not inform the cabin crew and the passengers about the impending forced landing. In the absence of such briefing from flight crew ,the passengers were not made to sit in proper posture to minimise the chances of injury during forced landing and also no briefing for emergency action was given to them. The flight crew did not follow the requirements laid down in the check list for forced landing.

In order to handle effectively any emergency situation on board the aircraft and for proper co-ordination of cabin crew and passengers during the emergency , flight crew members should perform the duties strictly as laid down in the check list and brief the cabin crew accordingly. The operators should bring this circular to the notice of all their flight and cabin crew and for strict compliance of the laid down procedures.
